How you can use Newton’s 1st Law of Physics in your business

Isaac Newton 1st Law of Physics States:

‘An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction?unless acted upon by an external force

Generally people carry on with how they are living their lives and running their businesses the same way because this is within their comfort zone. It is only when either a crisis happens like a customer complaint, a payment not going through or a valuable member of staff leaving that people get into action. Change, like death and taxes, is a constant in life, but unlike the other two many people choose to let change pass them by. The successful people embrace change and work with it to continually be improving small parts at a time.

We have had a great example of this recently with the success that Novak Djokovic has had in tennis. Over the last year Novak and his coaching team have been making small 1% changes to many facets of his game, his health and his fitness (both physical and mental) the compounding effect of each of these small changes has had a massive impact on his performances and his results. Whereas 12 months ago tennis was dominated by the big two Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, it is now a threeway domination with Novak as the number one in the world. I hope that Andy Murray can take the lessons and take his game to the next level, because he obviously has the talent.

The big challenge that you have is to affect the changes yourself and be continually working on making small changes on a daily basis, think about how much you will improve by in just one year if you make just a 1% improvement every day.

Don’t just sit there carrying on what you are doing, make change a key part of your business and life plan and carry out the planned actions.

Too often Newton’s first law can cause the death of a business because the external force is a negative one, make sure that the force acting upon your life and business is an internal one and controlled by you.
